Deceitful Paradise 😡✨

Image
(Image from Colourbox) DECEITFUL PARADISE. Like a mad woman, she was running around trying to grapple with life and catch up on a lot of things. Life was happening to her in every aspect and she tried to keep up, but like a tortoise trudging in mud, she always never caught up. Missing had become normal for her so she settled for whatever she could handle. Whenever she felt herself nearing breaking point and she could hear herself stretching till she could handle it no more, she stopped. "I can't kill myself." She said, trying to convince herself that everything would be fine even though deep down she knew she was drawing farther and farther away from God-given destiny. Here's where the problem was , dear Jewel. Like Simba in the Lion King and like the Prodigal son in the Bible, she left what mattered the most to pursue nonentities. The things she was grappling with, she coul...

Image
(Image from www.freepik.com) The JJJ promise. Episode 5. On the way home, neither of them could say anything. Samuel's eyes were on the road, but his mind was on the JJJ promise. Triplets! Who would have guessed? Of course the possibilities were there but he hadn't seen it coming at all. Joshua, Jeremiah, Jemima were actually triplets! What else was God planning? Blessing stared out the window, the tears had stopped falling but a silver pool lingered in her eyes. Her? Of all the women in the world! God was choosing her to house triplets? And she remembered when God gave her the JJJ promise, He had added it was no ordinary promise. What more was God planning? Life fast forwarded to eight and a half months later. Blessing was laid on the hospital bed, her legs in a V and a very potruding tummy above her. 'Okay, Mrs Desola,' the doctor said. 'The contractions will be more rapid now and in quicker succession. We're envisagin...

The JJJ promise.✌️✨Episode 4

Image
(Image from Hero Images) Episode 4. Everything worked like magic from  then on. It was as if the promise had been waiting for that prayer she prayed that day in the sitting room for it to become reality. Or perhaps, it was God's appointed time already. Four months interlaced with divine peace and rest passed and in the fifth month after that wonderful encounter she had with God, Blessing and her husband were in their car, on their way to the hospital for their ultrasound scan. As the car sped forward on the road and buildings zipped past her, Blessing remembered the days she spent in the bathroom, waiting for the results from the pregnancy test kit she used to buy. A smile broke out on her lips when she thought of how secretly she had done it that even Samuel had not known. The hospital car park was a lot freer today and Samuel pulled up to a space near the hospital's sliding doors. He turned to her and saw th...

The JJJ promise.🀞✨ Episode 3

Image
(Image from Shutterstock) The JJJ promise.🀞✨ Episode 3 Samuel moved to his side of the bed and sat down. His left brow was raised so he was still expecting an answer. Blessing sighed exasperatedly. "Oh, honey" she said "it's not so bad an idea na?" "Yeah, but we've talked about this. It's obvious God doesn't want that for us." "How do you know that?" Blessing retorted. "I'm fed up of all this silence from God!" She threw the covers over her legs and went to sit on the chair. Samuel silently asked God for wisdom to speak reassuringly to her. A part of him wanted to get upset that she was bringing this topic up again but the other part of him wanted to encourage her. She couldn't give up now. "The JJJ promise. Have you ever bothered to ask God to expantiate on it? Or you just wrote it down believing it will happen when it's time?" Blessing rolled her eyes at him. ...

The JJJ promise.🀞✨ Episode 2.

Image
(Image from Freepik) The JJJ promise. Episode 2 The laughter that came from both of them was rich and fulfilling... A month passed and the frustrations had not lessened and her sisters-in-law never ceased to pass biting comments or ask obnoxious questions about when she was going to get pregnant. Sometimes, Blessing would take it all in and keep her cool, smiling and telling them 'very soon'. Other times she kept completely mute but raged inside her, waiting for one more provocation to empty the contents of her frustrated mind on them. Today was one of the days disapointment seized her mind. She went to bed heavy-hearted and full of worry. The truth was that she was tired of waiting. Her Bible laid beside her on Samuel's side of the bed and she peeled her eyes off it. She wasn't in the mood to read it. She had read it so many times that the promises in it were sounding too good to be real. She replayed the days incidents in her mind, instead. Her best fr...

The JJJ promise. 🀞✨ Episode 1

Image
(Image from 123RF.com) The JJJ promise. Episode 1. Mrs. Blessing Delosa stared apprehensively at the pregnancy test kit that she had in her hand. She tapped her right foot impatiently on the floor as she willed herself to see two red lines appear on the kit. Her chest was about to tear from so much suspense when the result appeared. It was just one line. Negative. She curled her lips and closed her eyes to prevent tears from falling or from crying out loud, but the pain in her heart was beyond what she could express in tears. She slid her back down the wall and dropped dejectedly to the bathroom floor. It had been six years. Six years since she got married to Samuel. Six years of torture from in-laws and neighbours. Six years of trying and trusting that one day she'll have good news. It had been six years of going to the pharmacy to buy pregnancy test kits hoping to see two red lines at the end of everything... She heard the fr...

A letter from SHEOL.

Image
A LETTER FROM SHEOL. A smile was plastered on my face as I gurgled down a glass of red wine. Tomorrow I would be appointed governor of this large city with over 10 million citizens. There would be a big party at my place after my  inauguration and a lot of journalists will be around to cover the event. No doubt, by next tomorrow, my name and face would be splashed across all the newspapers in the state and my popularity, wealth and influence amongst the people would rapidly increase.  I dropped the empty glass on the glass center table and walked dreamily to my bedroom, my pot belly going a few inches before me. I was about taking off my agbada when my eyes caught the begger outside my window. I frowned and moved closer to study him. That beggar had been there for as long as I could remember. The security guards had done their best to get him out of the gate of my house but he always came back. Now, he had come to stay, a permanent eyesore to whoever saw him. I despi...
