(Image from Freepik) The JJJ promise. Episode 2 The laughter that came from both of them was rich and fulfilling... A month passed and the frustrations had not lessened and her sisters-in-law never ceased to pass biting comments or ask obnoxious questions about when she was going to get pregnant. Sometimes, Blessing would take it all in and keep her cool, smiling and telling them 'very soon'. Other times she kept completely mute but raged inside her, waiting for one more provocation to empty the contents of her frustrated mind on them. Today was one of the days disapointment seized her mind. She went to bed heavy-hearted and full of worry. The truth was that she was tired of waiting. Her Bible laid beside her on Samuel's side of the bed and she peeled her eyes off it. She wasn't in the mood to read it. She had read it so many times that the promises in it were sounding too good to be real. She replayed the days incidents in her mind, instead. Her best fr

She tapped her right foot impatiently on the floor as she willed herself to see two red lines appear on the kit. Her chest was about to tear from so much suspense when the result appeared. It was just one line. Negative. She curled her lips and closed her eyes to prevent tears from falling or from crying out loud, but the pain in her heart was beyond what she could express in tears. She slid her back down the wall and dropped dejectedly to the bathroom floor. It had been six years. Six years since she got married to Samuel. Six years of torture from in-laws and neighbours. Six years of trying and trusting that one day she'll have good news. It had been six years of going to the pharmacy to buy pregnancy test kits hoping to see two red lines at the end of everything... She heard the front door jam. Samuel must have

A letter from SHEOL.

A LETTER FROM SHEOL. A smile was plastered on my face as I gurgled down a glass of red wine. Tomorrow I would be appointed governor of this large city with over 10 million citizens. There would be a big party at my place after my  inauguration and a lot of journalists will be around to cover the event. No doubt, by next tomorrow, my name and face would be splashed across all the newspapers in the state and my popularity, wealth and influence amongst the people would rapidly increase.  I dropped the empty glass on the glass center table and walked dreamily to my bedroom, my pot belly going a few inches before me. I was about taking off my agbada when my eyes caught the begger outside my window. I frowned and moved closer to study him. That beggar had been there for as long as I could remember. The security guards had done their best to get him out of the gate of my house but he always came back. Now, he had come to stay, a permanent eyesore to whoever saw him. I despised him i

Power within.

POWER WITHIN. The clock ticked steadily on the wall. The only sound in Thelma's world. The world around her had come to a standstill. She lay on the bed, eyes open, staring into the nothingess that surrounded her. There was no yesterday or tomorrow. There was only now. She thought of her final year project that had been stolen two days ago. It had crippled her so much that she never found the strength to start over. With defense looming closer and closer, the possibility of her graduating with her classmates dissipated into oblivion. Thinking about it started a splitting headache in her head. Her mother laid sick in the hospital bed, three miles away from her house. Breast cancer. Doctors had told Thelma that they were giving her two months to live. That was a month ago. Her best friend's behavior to her in the past weeks was the cherry on her bitter cake. Thelma knew she was capable of loving deeply. She made friends easily and for those who dared to come close

NO STRINGS ATTACHED; THE BEST KIND OF LOVE. 💖

NO STRINGS ATTACHED; THE BEST KIND OF LOVE. Debbie looked at the handsome man across the table, too stunned to speak. A thousand thoughts whirled in her mind, and she felt dizzy. She blinked twice. Maybe she had not heard correctly.  "What?" She said in a voice was tinier than a whisper. Troy smiled and repeated, "Will you marry me, Debbie?" The air became too hot, she could hardly breathe. She fanned herself with her hand. Her heart throbbed against her chest. "No." She replied wide-eyed. "No, I can't... I can't." She drew back her chair, retrieved her purse from the table and ran to the restaurant's parking lot. Tears blurred her vision making her trip twice. Troy ran after her. If he was keeping track, this would be about the thousandth time he was running after her. He loved Debbie with fiery passion and he would give anything for her to be all his. Why did she always run? Why couldn't she stay in the love that p
