FIVE BOOKS THAT CHANGED ME IN 2021

Phew! We blinked and it’s December already? Who else agrees with me that 2021 has been one heck of a ride? The speed, the bumps, the twists, the turns...

But we've got to hand it to 2021. It was a year of growth! Yasss, raise your hand if you can count one or two ways you grew this year. C’mon, take inventory and bless God for the wonderful human you’re becoming!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Speaking of growth, this year, books were my catalyst. Isn’t it amazing that there is this ocean of knowledge out there that you don’t have to pay a dime for, if only you can read?!

Here are some of the significant books I read this year.  Hopefully, at the end of this post, you would want to read one or two of them.

1. ATOMIC HABITS by James Clear

I used to be this person that was almost always overwhelmed with activities. I had so much going on and I was always gettting to breaking point too soon. But busy doesn’t equal productivity. Through this book, I was able to form new habits that started bringing me positive results in health, career and relationships. I learned discipline and time management within the pages of one book, guys. How interesting is that?

2. THE SMART MONEY WOMAN by Arese Ugwu:

The love of money is the root of all evil, not money itself! Somebody say Hallelujah! God wants us to be people of value and make money in the process. The problem comes when we don’t know how money works. This book taught me the things anyone who wants to be financially literate (or free) should know. I loved it even more because it uses the stories of Nigerian ladies with norrmal money problems to convey its message. And it has these little exercises at the end of every chapter that help you take charge of your money journey.

3. LOST AND FOUND by Sarah Jakes Roberts:

Holy Moly! This book came at a time I needed it the most. You know that moment when life happens and you just wish you had a physical roadmap for your life so you could understand it's twists and turns? In a time when I could not make sense of what was going on in mine, God used this book to reach out to me, pointing out that my best days are ahead of me, not behind me. The statement from this book that stitched together the last gap in my faith was this: “One detour does not cancel the destination.” (I later went on to read Woman Evolve by the same author, and even though I'm not done with the book, it's been pretty amazing)

4. ON EVERY SIDE by Karen Kingsbury:

I don’t think a year would come where I would not read a book from this author. When it comes to Christian fiction, Karen Kingsbury is my plug! I learned a lot from this book, (especially about evangelism) but this was my take home: Even if Satan has erected Jericho walls around a person's heart, consistent prayer, unwavering love and unflinching hope will bring it all down. God can turn very hardened people to the most beautiful souls you ever met. So if you're about giving up on someone you're showing God's love, you should pick up this book.

5. THE BIBLE by the Holy Spirit

(Somebody pass me a dictionary or an encyclopedia, because I’m at a loss for words to describe this one.) Talk about a Book that makes it feel like God is sitting across the room from you, whispering hope, faith, love, instruction, counsel, correction… If there’s any book that has changed my life and is still molding me into somebody beyond my wildest imaginations, it’s this Book. It is what you need if you want to be closer to God and hear His voice every day. But here’s a piece of advice: The next time you pick up the Bible to read, specifically ask the Holy Spirit to speak to YOU, because the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

There you have it! Five books that significantly changed me this year. Which of these books do you think you’d love to read soon? Tell me in the comments!

P.S, If reading is not your strong point, I have a blog post coming up next year that would show you how to become a better reader and enjoy yourself while you’re at it!

See you later beloved. Thank you for reading, and Merry Christmas in advance!♥️

  1. Nice read, Dr.

I read the book, "Becoming Facebook". Asides that, I didn't do much of book reading (even though I have tons of new, partly-read, and unread books).

It was more of reading articles, news, and then watching YouTube documentaries.
